Dr. Piotr Przanowski is a Polish molecular biologist whose research spans cancer biology, genomics, epigenetics, and immunology. During his Ph.D., he investigated the transcriptional and epigenetic regulation of neuroinflammation through the STAT1/STAT3–JMJD3/UBA7 signaling axis, conducting research in Poland, Germany, and Sweden. His early postdoctoral work focused on the role of oncogenic TRIM37 in breast cancer chemotherapy resistance and metastasis and pharmacological reactivation of the silenced X chromosome. After transitioning to a Research Scientist position, he investigated the molecular mechanisms underlying breast cancer susceptibility and initiation, particularly how transient activation of ANKLE1 promotes the transformation of mammary epithelial cells and drives the earliest stages of breast cancer development. His most recent work on breast tumor microenvironment identified distinct cellular states in breast cancer premalignancies and revealed a dynamic interaction between premalignant epithelial cells and adipocytes, demonstrating how adiponectin signaling alleviates cellular stress and promotes premalignant cell survival.
